What is Eat Cheap, Eat Well, Eat Up?
This blog is devoted to all things food–everything from great grocery shopping experiences (if you love to eat, it’s not a chore), tasty recipes, cooking tips, and my favorite equipment. All through the lens of my site’s name:
Eat Cheap: because we’re all looking for ways to manage grocery bills without sacrificing quality.
Eat Well: because great food can be good for you, too.
Eat Up: When you invest so much into preparing food, you should enjoy it with gusto!
I’ve traveled all over the world, and had the opportunity to sample many memorable dishes, from the odd (bull’s penis in China and an ostrich-egg omelet in California’s Santa Ynez Valley) to the sublime (the linguine with langoustine at a small trattoria in Rapallo on Italy’s Ligurian coast still ranks as one of my all-time favorite meals). Along the way, I picked up cooking tips and techniques from home cooks in Morocco and professional chefs in Parma, Italy. Needless to say, it’s fun, and I love to share what I learn.
I’m a career journalist, having freelanced for national outlets and worked
on staff at Copley News Service and, most recently, Cooking Light, where I was the senior food editor. You can learn more about my work on my home page. http://www.mediabistro.com/AlisonAshton.
In the meantime, join me in the delicious quest to eat cheap, eat well, and eat up!
Alison
